C.L. Jones Middle School Announcements
After School Study Hall
Students have the daily opportunity to receive quality help while completing homework. At C. L. Jones Middle School we offer a supervised homework room each night of the school week. The homework room is managed by two CLJMS staff who work with students daily in all subject areas. Mrs. Thompson and Mrs. Whitney are veteran staff members of CLJMS†who have tutored students in all subject areas for many years.†
The C. L. Jones Middle School study hall runs Monday through Thursday from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM, and on Friday from 2:15 PM to 3:00 PM. Many students have taken advantage of this service to complete their school work prior to going home.
All students are welcome and encouraged to take part in this valuable program.
iPad Self-Protection Plan
Students in grades 6 - 8, who have enrolled in the C. L. Jones Middle School iPad Self-Protection plan are able to take their school issued iPad home. This plan is a crucial part of digital learning at the middle school. The self-protection plan offers families protection against the high cost one will incur if their student accidently breaks their school issued iPad.†
Digital devices are an outstanding tool one can use to expand learning opportunities for all students, however, they are expensive. The iPad, cover, charger, and cable purchased for our middle school students has a replacement cost of nearly $500. Replacing an iPad completely does happen but the biggest issue is replacing a broken iPad screen. The cost of replacing a screen runs anywhere from $112 to $150 depending on other repairs which need to be done resulting from the damaged screen. The cost to enroll in the self-protection plan is $35. With the self-protection plan a student iPad will be insured against accidental damage or theft up to $200. Any repair or replacement cost above $200 will be charged to the student, parent, or caregiver.
The key components of the middle schools self-protection plan:
Student's are financially responsible for repairs to their school issued iPad that are determined to be the result of negligence. The self-protection plan is a financial safe guard against the high price of repairs. One may download the self-protection document, complete the form and return it to the middle school office with a check for $35 to be enrolled in the plan immediately.†

"Each time a man stands up for an ideal, or acts to improve the lot of others, or strikes out against injustice, he sends forth a tiny ripple of hope, and crossing each other from a million different centers of energy and daring, those ripples build a current which can sweep down the mightiest walls of oppression and resistance."
Robert F. Kennedy Capetown, June 6th 1966
